Scottsdale, AZ – Five Injured in Golf Cart Accident Near Chaparral Rd
Scottsdale, AZ (June 14, 2020) – A man is in custody after his car hit a group of five people who were traveling on a golf cart on Sunday morning.
Per officers from the Scottsdale Police Department, the wreck occurred around 2:30 a.m. Both Scottsdale and Phoenix Fire responded to the crash, which occurred near Miller Road. Officers say the accident occurred when 22-year-old Robert A Gandara was driving north and ran into the back end of a golf cart carrying five people near Chaparral Road.
It’s unclear who was on the golf cart, but four of the people on the golf cart were transported to a local trauma center via ambulance in serious condition. The fifth person who was on the golf cart sustained minor injuries and is expected to recover.
Police officials say Gandara was arrested and is facing multiple aggravated assault charges, though the accident remains under investigation.
