Surprise, AZ – Man Seriously Injured After Dry Canal Fall at El Mirage Rd & Bell Rd
Surprise, AZ (December 6, 2020) – A man had to be rescued on Sunday after he fell into a dry canal in the Surprise area.
Per reports from the Surprise Police Department, the accident happened around 5:00 p.m. near El Mirage Road and Bell Road. Westbound Bell Road was closed from El Mirage to Dysart as investigators responded to the incident and collected evidence at the scene. Authorities from Arizona Fire and Medical say that the victim is a man in his 20s. He was reportedly working along the canal on a project when he slipped and fell 25 into the canal. The specific events leading up to the accident are unclear, and his company was not listed.
Emergency crews were able to pull him out from the canal to safety. He was treated at the scene and then transported to an area medical center via ambulance in serious condition. His current status is unknown, and his name was not released.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
