Tempe, AZ (June 22, 2019) – On June 22nd, an early morning auto accident occurred near Southern Avenue and Country Club Drive in Tempe.

The Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department (TFMRD) responded to the crash around 8:00 a.m. and discovered that a vehicle had veered off the road, colliding with a light pole. Officials say that the vehicle was traveling westbound on Southern Avenue at the time. The driver was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, and a toddler in the vehicle was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to the Tempe Police Department, impairment is being investigated as a possible factor in the crash. The intersection, as well as Southern Avenue between Country Club and Kachina, was closed for several hours while officials investigated.
