Tempe, AZ (May 8, 2020) – A man has been hospitalized after a car crash and subsequent shooting in Tempe on Friday evening.

Per officials with the Tempe Police Department, the crash happened around 5:15 p.m. on Scottsdale Road at Playa Del Norte Drive, just south of the Loop 202 Red Mountain.

After the crash, a fight broke out between those involved and resulted in a shooting. The shooting victim was rushed to the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries, said Sgt. Matt Feddeler with the Tempe Police Department. It’s unclear how many others were injured, though detectives say that there are between five and 10 people involved in the accident and shooting incident.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
