Tempe, AZ (January 30, 2020) – A driverless Waymo van was involved in an accident in Tempe late Thursday evening. 

According to Detective Natalie Barela with the Tempe Police Department, the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. near Rural Road and Warner Road. Barela said the driver of the Waymo van was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries via ambulance and the passenger was not seriously injured.

The details of the other victims’ injuries have not been released, but the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
