Tempe, AZ – Three Injured in Tanker Truck Crash on SR 143 at I-10
Tempe, AZ (August 3, 2020) – A serious accident involving a tanker truck carrying milk closed southbound State Route 143 at Interstate 10 in Tempe early Monday morning and resulted in several injuries.
Per reports from the Tempe Police Department, the crash occurred just before 3:00 a.m. Initial reports from the scene indicated that an SUV collided with a tanker truck around that time. Officers say that the SUV may have run a red light, causing the rear-end accident with the tanker truck. After the collision, the tanker then rolled onto its side.
Three people in the SUV were transported to a hospital, and one sustained serious injuries. Police say that the driver of the tanker truck was not taken to the hospital but did not say whether they sustained minor injuries in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery.
