Tucson, AZ – James Morgan Killed in Work Accident on Railway at Vail
Tucson, AZ (February 2, 2021) – A Union Pacific worker has died after a train accident on the job near Tucson.
Per a statement released by company spokesman Tim McMahan, James Morgan, who worked on engineering matters as a systems laborer, was fatally hurt on Sunday in Vail. McMahan gave no further details, but the National Transportation Safety Board said in a tweet that Morgan was struck by a rail tamper. Authorities say that a rail tamper is a machine used to pack the ballast that forms the trackbed under railway tracks.
According to officers on the scene, the NTSB is investigating the accident. However, reports note that investigators do not have plans at this time to travel to the scene.
We would like to offer our condolences to the family of James Morgan.
