Tucson, AZ – Matthew Sherman Hit & Killed in Pedestrian Crash at E 22nd St
Tucson, AZ (January 9, 2021) – Officers with the Tucson Police Department are investigating a deadly crash involving a pedestrian that occurred on the south side on Thursday morning.
Officers responded to the area around 4:30 a.m. Police say that the accident occurred at the 400 block of East 22nd Street. Upon arrival, officers found a male pedestrian who was seriously injured in the roadway. They began rendering aid until Tucson Fire Medics arrived, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The pedestrian was identified as 46-year-old Matthew Edward Sherman.
According to TPD officers, Sherman was struck by a maroon 2007 Ford Fusion. The driver stayed on the scene.
TPD officers are continuing to investigate and have not released further information at this time.
