Tucson, AZ – Michael Ortiz Killed in Pedestrian Accident at W Ajo Way
Tucson, AZ (February 16, 2021) – A 58-year-old man is dead after a pedestrian accident occurred on the 1100 block of West Ajo Way on Sunday evening.
Per reports from the Tucson Police Department, Michael Bernard Ortiz was attempting to cross Ajo Way around 9:30 p.m. when he was struck by a silver 2013 Subaru BRZ that was traveling eastbound. Officers from Operations Division South and Tucson Fire Department responded to the scene and found Ortiz in the roadway. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Subaru stopped after the collision and cooperated with the investigation. A DUI officer determined that the driver was not impaired at the time of the collision.
The accident remains under investigation, and no further details have been released. No charges or citations have been filed at this time.
