Tucson, AZ – UPDATE: Franklin S. Johnson Dies After Crash at W Valencia Rd
Tucson, AZ (March 5, 2020) – The pedestrian hit on February 26 at the intersection of West Valencia Road and South Midvale Park Road has died after sustaining serious injuries.
Just after 8:00 p.m., Tucson Fire Medics were dispatched to the scene. When they arrived, they discovered 63-year-old Franklin S. Johnson has suffered serious life-threatening injuries. Johnson was transported to Banner University Medical Center and detectives were contacted to continue the investigation.
According to interviews conducted by officers and detectives, Johnson was walking across Valencia Road and crossing mid-block when a white 2000 Honda Civic traveling westbound in the curb lane of Valencia Road struck him.
The driver of the Honda, 25-year-old Hannah M. Rogers, stopped immediately and cooperated with the investigation. A DUI officer responded and determined that Rogers was impaired at the time of the collision.
Rogers was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. She was booked into Pima County Jail.
Johnson passed away on Tuesday from injuries he sustained during the collision. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be added when the case is issued.
