Tucson, AZ – UPDATE: Tiffany Duarte Killed in Crash at Valencia Rd & Country Club Rd
Tucson, AZ (February 25, 2020) – One person has died as the result of an accident on the south side of Tucson that occurred yesterday.
Around 1:10 p.m., officers from Operations Division South were dispatched to the intersection of East Valencia Road and South Country Club Road for a fatal vehicle collision. Upon arrival, Tucson Fire rescue personnel were on scene rendering aid to several injured passengers.
The driver of a 2016 Jeep Patriot had suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was identified as 37-year-old Tiffany Duarte.
Tucson Fire transported two other adult victims to Banner University Medical Center, one with minor injuries and the other with serious injuries. Traffic Detectives were contacted and responded to continue the investigation. According to witness interviews, the Jeep Patriot was traveling westbound on Valencia Road when it collided with a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta traveling eastbound on Valencia Road. The two vehicles collided in the middle of the intersection, per reports from officers on the scene. The driver of the Jetta stopped immediately and remained at the scene for the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing and no charges or citations have been issued at this time.
