Yuma, AZ – Three Hospitalized After Two-Car Crash at County 13½ & Avenue C
Yuma, AZ (November 20, 2020) – A two-car accident sent three people to the hospital on Friday afternoon.
Per reports from the Somerton Cocopah Fire Department (SCFD), the crash occurred in the area of County 13½ and Avenue C around 12:45 p.m. Rural Metro was also at the scene and says that the crash occurred when an Audi crossover t-boned a Dodge Crossover. There was one woman in the Audi and two women in the Dodge. All three of the victims sustained injuries.
Firefighters say that the driver of the Dodge was pinned between the vehicle’s center console and the door. SCSD used a 4×4 pickup to pull the Audi away from the wreckage, and they eventually had to use the jaws of life to free the woman from her vehicle. SCFD paramedics believe that the woman broke both legs in the accident. She was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) via ambulance. Her passenger was also transported to an area medical center with head, neck, back, and abdominal pain.
Rural Metro transported the driver of the Audi to YRMC but did not comment on the nature of her injuries.
SCFD says it’s not apparent how the crash occurred, though the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is investigating at this time.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Injury Car Wrecks in Arizona
Almost 35,000 accident injuries statewide in 2018, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation’s most recent crash report. And of last year’s nearly 55,000 total accidents, more than half involved more than one injured victim. Oftentimes, victims may even succumb to their injuries, leaving grieving families to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of a serious accident.
Serious injuries, astronomical medical costs, and even job loss may plague victims and their families after a wreck. But those affected can contact a Phoenix accident lawyer for help, and in some cases, seek fair compensation from a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit.
