Scottsdale, AZ – UPDATE: Details Released After Deadly Crash at Williams Dr & Miller Rd
Scottsdale, AZ (August 4, 2019) – One man has been arrested after a fatal collision that occurred in Scottsdale on Saturday afternoon, August 3rd.
According to Scottsdale police, the crash occurred at Williams Drive and Miller Road, just south of Pinnacle Peak, before 4:00 p.m. Police say that 22-year-old Angel Carrasco was driving northbound on Miller Road, approaching the intersection at Williams Drive, racing another vehicle, per evidence collected at the scene and eyewitness accounts.
As Carrasco and his 22-year-old female passenger entered the intersection, another vehicle driven by a 68-year-old woman heading southbound down Miller Road was struck by Carrasco when she attempted to turn eastbound onto Williams Drive. The woman was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries where she later died.
Carrasco and his passenger were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries. Carrasco was arrested as he was released from the hospital and is facing charges of second-degree murder and aggravated assault.
