Tucson, AZ – Update: Parents of Late Astronaut Killed in Fatal Crash
Tucson, AZ (August 27, 2019) – Police have confirmed that a fatal crash took the life of two parents of a late astronaut in Tucson on Wednesday afternoon.
The two have since been identified as Margory and Richard Brown, who were the parents of a late astronaut Laurel Clark. Clark lost her life at Space Shuttle Columbia when the spacecraft caught fire and disintegrated in 2003 as it came into reentry before it was supposed to land.
At the time, the Browns, both 85, had been traveling eastbound on an unnamed road in Tucson in their RAV4 when they collided with a Ford Raptor driven by a 19-year-old man who was making a U-turn at the time.
The crash was so severe and forceful that the Toyota was pushed into an oncoming tow truck that was also headed eastbound at the time, while the RAV4 then struck a tree. Both Margory and Richard passed away at the scene.
At this time, police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
