Tucson, AZ – UPDATE: Woman Dies After Hit-and-Run Wreck at Ajo Way

Tucson, AZ (September 30, 2019) – A woman struck by a vehicle last week in a hit-and-run crash has died.

According to the Tucson Police Department, a woman in her 50’s climbed over a concrete barrier and was walking northbound on Ajo Way when she was hit by a dark-colored SUV driving eastbound. The wreck happened last Monday around 9:00 p.m., per a report from Ray Smith, a public information officer with the Tucson Police Department. The driver of the SUV did not stop after the accident.

Emergency responders treated the woman at the scene before transporting her to Banner University Medical Center via ambulance with life-threatening injuries. Detectives were notified of her death this week but have not released her name to the public.

Investigators concluded speed was not a factor in the collision. No charges or citations have been issued but the accident remains under investigation. Police encourage anyone with information on the incident to call 88-CRIME.
