Tucson, AZ – UPDATE: Benjamin Secor Killed in Motorcycle Crash at 22nd St

Tucson, AZ (October 7, 2019) – On Saturday afternoon, a 43-year-old motorcyclist was killed in an accident on Tucson’s east side.

According to authorities, Benjamin Secor, 43, was waiting to make a left turn onto East 22nd Street from South Houghton Road around 2:00 p.m. When the light turned green, Secor made his turn directly in front of a southbound-traveling Jeep Wrangler.

The Jeep collided with Secor’s motorcycle and both vehicles came to a stop on the southwest corner of the intersection. Secor was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Jeep remained on scene and did not show signs of impairment, per reports from police. They say that speed did not appear to be a factor in the crash but are still investigating at this time.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Benjamin Secor’s family at this time.

Motorcycle Crashes in Arizona

Accounting for nearly 14 percent of all traffic fatalities nationwide in the last several years, motorcycle crashes are on the rise. In fact, motorcycle wrecks have more than doubled in the past 25 years. And per data released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, crash statistics indicate that one in seven fatalities on the road occurred on a motorcycle.

Tragic consequences may befall victims after a motorcycle accident, including long-term physical issues, costly medical bills, and even job loss or death. But the victims and their families affected by these injurious wrecks can contact a Phoenix accident lawyer for help. In some cases, a skilled lawyer can help victims get justice and a fair settlement from a personal injury lawsuit or a wrongful death lawsuit.

Our motorcycle accident attorneys at ELG Law have years of experience advocating for victims and their families after motorcycle crashes.
