Phoenix, AZ – Fatality & 4 Injuries Reported in Truck Accident at Cave Creek Rd
Phoenix, AZ (December 20, 2019) – One person is dead and four more are injured after a Valley Metro van crashed with a truck in north Phoenix on Friday afternoon.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, the accident happened shortly after 12:00 p.m. in the area of Cave Creek Road and Sonoran Desert Drive. Police say that a 21-year-old man in a Ford F-550 work truck with a crane and a trailer was heading northbound on Cave Creek Road when he turned left in front of a 2014 Econoline van from Valley Metro’s vehicle pool. The impact caused the van to crash into a utility pole on the southwest corner of the intersection.
The Valley Metro van driver, 59-year-old Juan Carlos Molina-Limon, suffered serious injuries and died on Friday at the hospital. His passengers, all men between the ages of 32 and 55, were taken to the hospital as well.
Sgt. Tommy Thompson of the Phoenix Police Department said the driver who made the left turn was not hurt and stayed at the scene of the crash. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
Our condolences go out to the family of Juan Carlos Molina-Limon. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
