Maricopa, AZ (December 22, 2020) – A deadly commercial truck accident closed the southbound lanes of State Route 347 near Maricopa on Tuesday morning.

Per reports from authorities responding to the scene, the commercial truck accident happened at 9:30 a.m. on southbound SR 347 at Riggs Road. Officials with the Arizona Department of Transportation tweeted a photo of the crash, which showed a white passenger car that had crashed into a commercial box truck. The southbound lanes were shut down but reopened at 1:30 p.m. after investigators cleared the scene. Local EMTs were also seen and appeared to transport at least one victim to the hospital.

It is not clear what led to the commercial truck accident, and no further details have been released at this time. The accident remains under investigation.
