Payson, AZ (July 26, 2019) – A multi-vehicle accident late Friday evening, July 26th, closed State Route 87 near East Verde Estates Road.

Officials responded to the scene, which occurred around 11:44 p.m. and appeared to involve at least two vehicles on SR 87 northbound at milepost 258, just outside of Payson near Mesa Del Caballo. Police and fire rescue units were at the scene of the accident to assist injured victims and investigate the cause of the multi-vehicle crash.

All lanes reopened before 12:00 a.m. but the drivers’ identities and the extent of their injuries have not been released at this time.
