Phoenix, AZ – Man Injured After Laveen Canal Crash
Phoenix, AZ (September 15, 2019) – One man was rescued after a crash threw his vehicle into the Laveen Canal on Saturday.
According to Captain Kenny Overton, a spokesman from the Phoenix Fire Department, crews responded to the car crash near 35th Avenue and Dobbins Road just after 9:00 p.m. They found a car in the canal with a man trapped in the back and another vehicle at the scene, still on the roadway. Firefighters had to cut the man from the vehicle using the jaws of life by removing the roof to gain access to the victim. He was conscious and communicating with rescuers while they were working to free him from the vehicle.
After he was freed, he was transported to a local hospital via ambulance, where he remains in stable condition. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash. They have not released information about the other driver or the identity of the injured victim at this time.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and his family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
