Phoenix, AZ – Motorcyclist Dies After Crash at Cave Creek Rd & Nisbet Rd

Phoenix, AZ (July 24, 2019) – A motorcyclist has died following a crash on Monday evening, July 22nd, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Officials say that the accident happened in the area of Cave Creek Road and Nisbet Road, south of Greenway Road. After stopping at a stop sign at Nisbet Road, a 53-year-old man driving a 2001 Ford truck attempted to cross all the lanes on Cave Creek Road. At that point, the 21-year-old motorcyclist, identified as Uzuri Burkes, heading southbound on Cave Creek Road collided with the truck.

Burkes was wearing a helmet but succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene, per information from Sgt. Maggie Cox of the Phoenix Police Department.

The man driving the truck stayed on the scene, and authorities said that impairment did not seem to play a role in this crash. The crash remains under investigation.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Uzuri Burkes at this time.
