Phoenix, AZ – Two Injured in Truck Accident on I-17 at 19th Ave
Phoenix, AZ (December 15, 2020) – On Monday afternoon, a delivery truck veered off of Interstate 17 and plunged onto the roadway below, resulting in at least two injuries.
Per reports from the Phoenix Police Department, the crash happened shortly before 3:00 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-17, near the 19th Avenue exit. The truck driver somehow lost control of the vehicle, clipped the guardrail, and then fell about 20 feet to the street below.
Two people were inside the truck at the time. Neither the driver nor the passenger suffered life-threatening injuries, and both were able to get out of the crumpled truck. However, both victims were transported to an area medical center.
The left and center lanes were shut down for several hours while police cleared the scene and investigated. It’s not clear what caused the driver to lose control, but DPS officials will lead the investigation into what happened.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families. We hope for their quick recovery.
