Tucson, AZ – UPDATE: Fatality Reported in 2-Car Crash on I-10 Near Vail
Tucson, AZ (December 24, 2019) – Police have released further details after a crash that closed all eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 near Vail for almost three hours and resulted in at least one fatality on Christmas Eve.
According to officers from the Tucson Police Department, the fatal crash is said to have involved a semi-truck and a van. It was reported at 6:43 p.m. near Vail, which is 30 minutes southeast of Tucson, per information from the Arizona Department of Public Safety. As of Tuesday evening, authorities with the Department of Public Safety had not said how many people were killed in the collision but added that at least one person was also hospitalized with serious injuries.
At 9:27 p.m., ADOT tweeted that the freeway was open again, though the right lane remained blocked at the scene of the crash. The accident remains under investigation.
