Phoenix, AZ – Child in Critical Condition After Pedestrian Crash at 36th St & Thomas Rd
Phoenix, AZ (November 17, 2020) – Officers with the Phoenix Police Department say that a 9-year-old boy is fighting for his life after being struck by a car in Phoenix on Tuesday night.
According to the most recent information released, police officers responded to the scene near 36th Street and Thomas Road just before 6:00 p.m. after receiving reports of a crash involving a car and young child.
Detectives on the scene determined that a vehicle traveling southbound on 36th Street struck the boy while he was trying to cross the street. The boy was then transported to the hospital via ambulance with serious injuries, per a statement from Phoenix Police Sgt. Ann Justus.
Justus says the driver of the car was not hurt in the accident and impairment does not appear to be a factor at this time, though the investigation is ongoing. No further details on the cause of the crash have been revealed, and the driver has not been identified.
Our thoughts are extended to the injured victim and his family in hopes of a full recovery.
