Phoenix, AZ – Five-Car Crash Causes Injuries on I-17 at I-10 Split
Phoenix, AZ (February 8, 2021) – A multi-vehicle accident involving at least five drivers closed all but one lane on Interstate 17 southbound at the Interstate 10 off-ramps on Monday morning around 6:00 a.m.
Per reports from the Phoenix Police Department, the area cleared up about an hour later. Arizona Department of Public Safety Sgt. Kameron Lee said there was at least one injury and that five cars had to be towed from the crash scene on I-17. Several southbound lanes were closed near the I-10 Split.
Local EMTs were also dispatched to the scene of the accident, though the number of victims they transported and the extent of their injuries are unknown. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the wreck and have not released the drivers’ information. The events leading up to the accident are unclear.
Phoenix officers say that the wreck remains under investigation at this time.
