Tucson, AZ (June 25, 2020) – A driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred in Tucson is facing a second-degree murder charge.

Per officers with the Tucson Police Department, 26-year-old Jeremy Jay Sims was driving impaired when the accident occurred around 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Wilmot Road and Broadway. Officers say that excessive speed also may have been a factor.

Police said Sims fled the scene on foot after the crash but was later found at his home. Tucson officers said that the driver of the other vehicle died at the scene and was identified as 28-year-old Fedyst Fomeche.

The crash remains under investigation.
