Tucson, AZ – Three Injured in Head-on Car Crash on U.S. 191 Near Safford & Clifton
Tucson, AZ (December 21, 2020) – Three people were flown to a Tucson hospital on Friday afternoon after a head-on collision occurred on U.S. 191.
The wreck occurred on a stretch of U.S. 191 that’s located between Safford and Clifton. Per a report from Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Bart Graves, a New Mexico resident in his 30s swerved into the southbound lanes of U.S. 191 near milepost 131 around 2:00 p.m. Friday. He then struck a vehicle carrying two elderly Clifton residents.
All three were flown to a Tucson hospital but have since been released to recover at their homes, Graves said. The New Mexico resident was cited for failure to control his vehicle. He also had no driver’s license and no vehicle registration.
The wreck remains under investigation at this time.
We would like to extend our thoughts to the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
Multi-Vehicle Accidents in Arizona
The interstates in Arizona are some of the most dangerous highways in the country, ranking in the top five across the nation for fatalities and injuries. In fact, hundreds of thousands of motorists travel on the highways in the greater Phoenix area on a daily basis, putting many drivers at risk for serious collisions on the major thoroughfares.
Furthermore, many fatalities on Arizona highways occur each day. By the end of each calendar year, almost 1,000 fatalities are seen statewide as a result of these serious car accidents. When it comes to these crashes, victims and their families may pay a steep price.
From painful long-term injuries and trauma to emotional distress and financial insecurity for years to come, wrecks cause tragic consequences for both victims and their families. Oftentimes, fatal accidents leave victims’ families to pick up the pieces in the aftermath. Thankfully, those affected can seek help from a Phoenix personal injury lawyer, especially if they’ve been involved in an accident that occurred as a result of the negligent actions of another driver.
