Phoenix, AZ – Officer Injured in Multi-Car Crash at 24th St & Southern Ave
Phoenix, AZ (February 22, 2020) – Two officers from the Phoenix Police Department were involved in separate accidents on Friday night, with one of the officers sustaining serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
According to authorities, the officer behind the wheel of the second patrol car crashed as they were responding to the first officer-involved accident.
Phoenix police officials say the patrol car was hit by another vehicle around 8:00 p.m. at the intersection of 24th Street and Southern Avenue. The officer in the patrol car was taken to an area hospital, and no one else was hurt in the accident.
Just blocks from that collision, another patrol car was hit by a vehicle near 23rd Street and Southern Avenue. The officer’s police cruiser rolled over from the impact, though there were no serious injuries reported from this wreck.
It is unclear how both crashes occurred at this time, though investigations are still ongoing.
