Phoenix, AZ – Three Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on I-17 at McDowell Rd
Phoenix, AZ (May 27, 2020) – Interstate 17 was partially shut down after a wrong-way accident in Phoenix on Wednesday night.
Per reports from the Department of Public Safety, a man in a Suzuki hatchback was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of the freeway. Around 7:40 p.m., troopers said he crashed into a Ford pickup truck with two people inside. The wreck occurred just before McDowell Road.
The wrong-way driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, and the two people in the truck were also transported to the hospital. Officers say that their injuries are serious.
Impairment is being investigated as a possible cause of the accident. Officers are still investigating the crash at this time.
